• Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN), it occurs in 20% of people who have suffer from shingles, mainly older people.  Most people will suffer with shingles for about one month, but the pain and skin sensitivity of PHN can continue for months or even years after the shingles rash has healed as the herpes virus can cause damage to the nerve fibers.  The pain from PHN will occur in the same area as the pain and rash from the shingles.  All normal activity can come to a halt for months as this pain may be stabbing, sharp, piercing or throbbing and may result in intolable skin sensitivity to even the slightest touch.
• Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN), it occurs in people with any type of diabetes as they have an abnormal elevation in blood sugar levels. Because they lack the insulin to metabolize the extra blood sugar, damage can occur to certain nerve tissues.  The nerve damage causes the protective sensations to be dulled and/or altered and the loss of the ability to determine the difference between sharp and dull, hot and cold, pressure differences and vibration. DPN is permanent, although the progression can be slowed or halted by maintaining normal blood sugar levels.

Zostrix HP Cream Directions: Lightly massage a small amount of cream fully into the skin around the affected area, FOUR times a day at regular intervals. Wash hands immediately after use, unless the hands are being treated.

• Capasicin USP - 0.075% w/w
• Purified water, sorbitol solution, isopropyl myristate, cetyl alcohol, white soft paraffin, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate and benzyl alcohol.
